SANCTION DESCRIPTIONS & INSTRUCTIONS:

ALCOHOLEDU - On-line Alcohol education program

AlcoholEdu is an online, science-based program that provides detailed information about alcohol and its effects on the body and mind.

·        The program takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete.

·        A registration fee of $20 to cover the cost of your access to the program is due to the Office of Student Conduct, 530 Leavey Center.

·        Before visiting AlcoholEdu, download and read the complete instructions and requirements for the program:  AlcoholEDU Instructions

  • REQUIRED:  Students are required to print out the results page, indicating the score received, and submit it to the Office of Student Conduct, 530 Leavey Center by the due date of the Notice of Administrative Action letter unless otherwise stipulated in your letter.

Reflection Papers & Educational Sanctions

  • If you have been assigned a reflection paper or educational sanction, you must submit two (2) copies of the paper or project, with the Education Sanction Approval Form as your cover page, to the Office of Student Conduct, 530 Leavey Center, by no later than fourteen (14) days from the date of the Notice of Administrative Action unless otherwise stipulated in your letter.

  • Papers/Projects will be reviewed by the adjudicator who assigned the sanction or a designee.  Unacceptable papers/projects will be returned to students for revision.

  • If you do not follow-up as instructed, you may be charged an additional Category “A” violation for “Failure to Meet Deadlines of a Disciplinary Action” and additional sanctions may be imposed.

Fines

  • All fine payments must be submitted to the Student Affairs Front Desk on 5 Leavey Center within 14 calendar days of the date of the Administrative Action letter.  Students will be issued a receipt for proof of payment.
  • The Office will consider alternative arrangements in lieu of paying the fine in special circumstances, at the discretion of the Assistant Director.  Fines may be converted to work sanction hours at a rate of 1 hour for every $10.  Once converted to hours, the student may not convert the hours back into the fine.
  • Failure to pay a fine by the sanction deadline will result in that fine being doubled and billed directly to their student account.
  • Fines may be paid with cash or personal check.  Checks payable to "Georgetown University." No credit card or GoCard payments are accepted.
  • Students may request their fine be billed to their student account.  To do so, a student must complete an authorization form granting permission to the Office of Student Conduct to bill the account and disclose the nature of that charge to any parent or legal/financial guardian who inquires about the charge.
  • These guidelines apply for administrative fees for AlcoholEdu

Work sanction Hours

To complete a work sanction you must:

1.     Obtain a Work Sanction Supervision Form and the list of Approved Work Sanction Sites from either the Student Affairs Front Desk on 5 Leavey or on the Student Conduct website:  http://studentconduct.georgetown.edu/StudentConductForms.htm

2.     Complete your hours by the time allotted at an approved work sanction site.

3.     Turn in your signed Work Sanction Supervision Form to the Student Affairs Front Desk by no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day your hours are due.

4.     The following guidelines also apply with regard to work sanction:

  • Students may only complete work sanction hours at Office of Student Conduct approved sites.
  • Students must document their completed hours by obtaining the signature from the contact person/site supervisor for the approved site on the work sanction supervision form.  Students may NOT be supervised by other students and many not substitute current activities or jobs for an alternative to work sanction.
  • Students have 14 calendar days from the date of their Administrative Action letter to make arrangements for completing their work sanction hours (i.e. obtaining supervision form and approved site list) and then 1 calendar day for each hour or work sanction to complete their sanction.
  • Failure to complete work sanction hours by the assigned deadline will result in those hours being doubled.  A new deadline for the doubled hours will be assigned.  Failure to complete the doubled hours by this deadline will result in the student being placed on disciplinary probation along with the revocation of the student’s Senior Week participation privileges until the sanction is completed.
  • It is the responsibility of students to know their deadlines and complete their sanctions by them.  The Office of Student Conduct does not provide reminder notices.  Students will receive one notice regarding their work sanction hours: when their deadline has passed and their hours are doubled.
  • Requests for extensions for completing sanctions should be made to the Office of Student Conduct.  Absent explicit authorization for an extension, students are accountable for the deadlines assigned.  Extension requests are at the discretion of the Director or Assistant Director of Student Conduct.

If you do not follow-up as instructed, you may be charged an additional Category “A” violation for Failure to Meet Deadlines of a Disciplinary Action.
