Home Beyond the Hilltop

Overview

Home Beyond the Hilltop is a voluntary and educational program organized by the Office of Student Conduct.  The goal of the program is to engage students to consider and learn more about town/gown relations, neighborhood expectations, community values, and restorative social capital.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to participate in the Home Beyond the Hilltop program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • The student has been found responsible for a “Disorderly Conduct” related violation for excessive off-campus noise;
  • The student has not previously completed Home Beyond the Hilltop;
  • The student has not been sanctioned to Disciplinary Probation II or higher.

Structure

To complete the program, students must complete an online workshop.  The workshop is broken into four (4) sections and each section consists of a reading and a set of assessment questions.  Assessment questions are based on the content from the readings and the student’s personal reflections.  At the end of the online workshop, students will electronically submit their online assessment to be reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct.

If a student successfully completes the program, the name of his/her off-campus “Disorderly Conduct” violation will be reduced to a “Noise” violation in the student’s disciplinary file.  Additionally, if a student was placed on Disciplinary Probation I as a result of his/her off-campus Disorderly Conduct violation, the length for which Disciplinary Probation I was imposed will also be reduced.

Students may only participate in the Home Beyond the Hilltop Program once.
