Supportive Measures

Members of the Georgetown University community may request a Supportive Measure through the Office of Student Conduct. These measures are designed to promote the safety, access, and well-being of individuals involved in the Community Standards Process. Importantly, Supportive Measures are non-disciplinary, they are not sanctions, and they may be implemented whether or not a student is found responsible for a policy violation.

What Supportive Measures Can Include

Supportive Measures are tailored to meet individual needs and may include:

  • No Contact Orders
  • Temporary changes to housing or dining arrangements
  • Adjustments to employment responsibilities or schedules
  • Temporary course or classroom changes
  • Access to medical and counseling services
  • Academic support services and accommodations
  • Targeted training or educational programs

No Contact Orders

A No Contact Order (NCO) is a University directive requiring that one student refrain from contacting or approaching another individual. This includes both direct and indirect communication, such as phone calls, text messages, email, social media, written notes, or communication through third parties.

NCOs are typically issued as mutual orders and remain in effect until lifted in writing by the Director of Student Conduct. Students who wish to request the removal of an NCO must complete the Request to Lift NCO Form.

How to Request a Supportive Measure

Students may submit a Supportive Measure Request Form through the Office of Student Conduct. Once received, a staff member will reach out to discuss next steps and explore appropriate options; or the No Contact Order may be implemented immediately with follow up meetings requested after implementation.

After the form has been submitted, a member of the OSC team will be in contact to discuss next steps. If you are in immediate danger, please contact the Georgetown University Police Departments at (202) 687-4343.
